Okay, so I just joined this cool online community for photographers called I Heart Faces and they run a weekly contest based on a theme.  This weeks theme is Pets!  So I'm thinking this is right up my alley.  Say hello to Caleb!

Smile For a Cure

I have the privilege of participating in a national event that is raising money for canine cancer research.  It's called Smile For a Cure and it allows pet photographers and their clients to donate funds that will one day lead to a cure to canine cancer. 

This really hit home for me last week when Brewski, the beautiful Labrador from my last post, succumbed to canine cancer a little over a week ago. It really affected me even though I had only met Brewski one time.

The campaign runs through September and I am including a free 8x10(a $50 value) with any session that is booked with a donation made to Smile For a Cure.  For more details just click here.

Brewski - A Portrait of Courage

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Brewski, a beautiful Labrador Retriever.  Brewski,  like most labs, is full of life and love but what set him apart was truly heartbreaking.  Brewski had been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer.  When I first spoke with Brewski's owner and she told me about Brewski's condition my heart immediately broke for him and his family.  As the day of the shoot drew closer and I would begin to think about Brewski it would bring tears to my eyes. I really didn't know what to expect. 

The day of the shoot arrived, and what I experienced that day was incredible!  Brewski was so brave that if I hadn't known he had cancer it would have never occurred to me.  I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story!
